The Building

Art and architecture

Kraaijvanger designed the building for the ‘Eerste Hollandsche Levensverzekerings-Bank’. This complex was completed in 1961, next to the Cinerama, in booming Rotterdam.
A striking feature is the beautiful artwork ‘The Family’ by Louis van Roode. The Westblaak 24-32 building is a paragon of bright, Rotterdam Reconstruction Architecture.

Now new history is being added by V8 Architects by having the building raised by three-storeys and extended with a new section at the rear. The original marble lobby, staircase and sixties façade will be restored.

The West Blake will soon consist of three sections with their own look: downtown, midtown and uptown.

Apartments

‘Only the m2 you use’ – smart floor plans and very high-quality finishes create compact luxury apartments and studios. Sometimes with an open space another time with one or two bedrooms.

All homes will be fitted with a luxury kitchen with built-in appliances, a high-end bathroom as well as floor and wall finishes. All matching the three different atmospheres of the building: uptown, midtown and downtown. More on this in early 2024
